Kareem’s in Hyderabad: Comprehensive Menu, Good Food, Reasonable Pricing, Simple Interior

Hyderabad got a franchise of Kareem’s which has been delighting epicureans in Mumbai since 1995. Thanks to Mr Azhar Tariq, an entrepreneur from Maharashtra, who took the master franchise of Kareem’s for foodies in Hyderabad. Located beside Haj House at Nampally, Kareem’s is eagerly waiting to welcome and host foodies tomorrow onwards. One of the new restaurants in Hyderabad, Kareem’s is a decent 70-seater AC restaurant with simple interior.

Mr Azhar Tariq has got a team of three chefs trained by Kareem’s in Mumbai so that Hyderabadis get the signature taste of the food served at Kareem’s restaurants in Mumbai. Two chefs are from Lucknow and one is from West Bengal. The chefs of Kareem’s in Hyderabad are all set to serve North Indian and Mughlai dishes with a difference.

Menu, Taste and Pricing

Kareem’s in Hyderabad has put an extensive menu of North Indian and Mughlai food on the table. No matter if you are very choosy or you make exclusive choices, the menu won’t disappoint you. The menu starts with four soups – Tomato Shorba, Palak Shorba, Murgh Yakhni Shorba and Paya Shorba, and goes on featuring a great number of popular dishes in all sections.

A section of the menu boasts Kareem’s special kathi kebab rolls. There are six veg kathi kebab rolls and seven non-veg kathi kebab rolls. While single filling of chicken kathi kebab roll costs Rs 130, double filling of the same is priced at Rs 150.  I had single filling of Paneer Hari Mirch Tikka Roll and Murgh Malai Tikka Roll each. Both ranked high on my index of taste.

I found as many as eleven non-veg starters on the menu of Kareem’s in Hyderabad to my utter surprise. There are Murgh Kalimiri Tikka, Murgh Hari Mirch Tikka, Murgh Malai Tikka and Murgh Seekh Kebab tickling the tongue with different flavors. Kareem’s Special Afghani Murgh Tandoori is a must have. It’s a dish of creamy whole chicken marinated with yoghurt, garlic, and special in-house spices.

There are 10 different veg starters including Aatishi Aloo, Mushroom Tikka, Tandoori Tarkari and paneer varieties with different spicy flavors. I tasted most of them and found them satisfying. The pieces were soft and nicely marinated in a blend of spices.

The main course having 19 non veg dishes and 11 veg dishes will surely leave you spoilt for choice. The main course non-veg dishes include Gosht Nihari, Gosht Karachi, Dum ke Chaap, Mutton Rogan Gosht, Murgh Dahiwala and Murgh Lahori. Quite a few items were heaped on my plate for tasting. Gosht Nihari was scored the highest for its exclusive taste.

Kareem’s in Hyderabad has got seafood on its menu. There are five seafood dishes including Pomfret Fry, Pomfret Tandoori, Jhinga Fry/Tandoori and Jhinga Tawa Masala. I did not taste any of these. Please do share your feedback if you happen to eat seafood at this newbie restaurant.

There are four flavors of biryani: Murgh Dum Biryani, Murgh Tikka Dum Biryani, Gosht Dum Biryani and Veg Dum Biryani. Biryani is the only thing that disappointed me a little. I had Murgh Dum Biryani which was not as satisfying and delicious as other dishes from starters to main course. The chefs of Kareem’s in Hyderabad need to work hard on this.

My taste buds were set back on track at the dessert time. I picked Malai Firni and Shahi Tukra for tasting. Shahi Tukra was good and Malai Firni was so delicious that I lapped it. Caramel Custard and Doodhi Halwa are two other desserts on the menu of Kareem’s in Hyderabad.

The food is reasonably priced at Kareem’s in Hyderabad. The pieces of starters were quite decent in size. The main course food was served in good proportion. This new restaurant may be up with a lunch buffet in the coming days.
