Mango Dal Dhokli recipe

Khandani Rajdhani shares the method of cooking Mango Dal Dhokli from their Indian raw mango recipes for summer:

Ingredients for the dal

Toovar Dal: 2 cups
Peanuts: 2 tbsp
Kokum: 8 pcs soaked
Tomato: 1, Chopped
Jaggery: 3 to 4 tbsp
Haldi: 1/2 tsp
Lemon juice: 1/2 tbsp
Green Chillies: 4
Chilli Powder: 1/2 tsp
Ginger: 1 tsp
Salt to taste

Ingredients for the dhoklis

Whole Wheat Flour: 1 cup
Haldi: 1/2 tsp
Chilli Powder: 1/2 tsp
Hing: 1/2 tsp
Oil: 2 tbsp
Ajwain: 1/4 tsp
Salt to taste

Ingredients for the tempering

Mustard Seed: 1/4 tsp
Cumin Seed: 1/4 tsp
Methi Seeds: 1/4 tsp
Curry Leaves: 10
Cloves: 2
Cinnamon: 2 sticks
Bayleaf: 1
Boriya Mirch: 2
Hing: 1/4 tsp
Ghee: 2 tbsp
Oil: 1 tbsp

Method for the Dal 

Wash the dal and filter the water to remove impurities

Pour the dal with four cups of water in a press cooker

Pressure cook peanuts in another pot

Once the dal is boiled, let it cool off and blend it smooth

Heat some ghee or oil in a frying pan

Add some cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds, cloves, curry leaves, and stir them together for 30 seconds

Add jiggery, tomato slices, cocum and ginger paste to the flying pan

Add three cups of water to let the ingredients simmer

Sprinkle turmeric powder, salt, chilli powder and lemon juice over the mixture

Add the blended dal and peanuts to the pan, and let them simmer for 10 minutes  

Method for the Dhoklis 

Mix enough water with the ingredients for dhoklis

Knead all them together to make firm dough

Divide the dough into four and roll out each portion into a thin chapati

Roast the flat chapatis on both sides and then let them cool off

Slice the chapatis into square shape    

Method for Mango Dal Dhokli

Boil the dal before serving

Add dhokli pieces and mango slices to the dal

Let it simmer for 15 minutes
